As well as being a succesful TV series for the past five years The Tribe has also released one chart topping soundtrack (Abe Messiah), performed for people and even has it's own musical band. Abe Messiah was released to the unsuspecting public of New Zealand on the 7th December 2000. I got a sneak copy of the album about three days after it was released in NZ thanks to a very good friend from NZ. I then bought a proper copy when it was released in the UK in March of 2001.

Before (November '00) the album was released in New Zealand various cast members went on a "tour" of the country dancing at (ironically) shopping malls and the like. You can view pictures of their mini tour on the Tribeworld website by clicking here.

Series One came onto our screens and people populated the Tribeworld Buletin Board and weren't only talking about how 'fit' Michael Wesley-Smith was, but also on how cool the theme song was. Sung by Rosalind J the song fitted in well with the show's post apocalytic, bleakness. Keep the dream alive became the catchphrase for the show and is used quite cornily in the later series'. The tour in 2003 came complete with "Bringing the dream to the world.." coats and everything. This song will always be the song for the series in true Tribe fans' books. With the release of Series Two the theme song used for the ending credits was replaced with an early version of Abe Messiah and the opening credits replaced by a reworked version of The Dream Must Stay Alive by Meryl Cassie. This is the version that was released on the CD and to be honest I wish it had been the first version.

In Series Two we had the three musical girls that tried to chase Salene whilst singing "Keep Banging The Drum." I'm not sure whether these are the "Beat Girls" which were featured on the album singing "I Can't Stop." So if anyone can give me info on that, or who the beat girls / Andrea Sanders actuall are it'd be great. You know the email addy!

Series Two is when the album was actually composed and recorded so this is when the majority of the music was featured in the series, This is the place being constantly used in any Casino / Party theme. This is one of the reasons why Beth Allen wasn't featured on the album, although she also states that it's because she's tone-deaf!

Series Three debuted the new style Abe Messiah as the ending credits, whilst keeping the original Opening Credit music, which has been used in Series Four & Five too. The new style Abe Messiah seems to use the rest of the cast and not just a couple of members. There was also a video for Abe Messiah, This is the Place and I Belong To You recorded. These can be viewed by clicking here.

Series Four brought along the addition of Meryl's sisters, which have a very musical background. They recorded the ending credits theme which has been used for both Series Four & Five. This is called Tribe Spirit.
